The startup Grason, founded in 2018 by Karel Mařík and Jarmila Kowolowska as a platform for flexible staffing in the restaurant industry, is entering a new phase. Its new owner is Miton, which has been an investor in Grason since 2019, and its new CEO is Anna Pánková. Her task is to lead Grason in a new direction so that it serves restaurateurs as a comprehensive tool for managing personnel in their businesses.
Grason is currently used by hundreds of restaurants and tens of thousands of verified “grasons”—people who help out in hospitality venues. Since its founding, Grason has arranged over 100,000 shifts for them. Today, thanks to its new product, GrasonPlan, the platform also helps build reliable and organized teams. The tool allows managers to easily schedule shifts, check tasks, and approve attendance with just a few clicks.
As we wrote in November in connection with updates to our gastrotech-focused team, the vision is to create an all-in-one system for restaurateurs, giving them access to all the data needed to run a restaurant in one place. A fresh step in this direction is the buyout of shares from Karel Mařík and the tech company Futured.
In addition to having a new 100% owner, Grason also has a new CEO—Anna Pánková. Anna brings experience from building her own e-commerce project and has seven years of experience at Škoda Auto, where she led complex projects focused on electromobility, digitalization, and innovation.
The new head of Grason comments on the company’s future direction: “Grason has built an excellent reputation among restaurants as a platform for flexible staffing and has proven it can be self-sustaining. My task now is to expand our new tool, GrasonPlan, across restaurants throughout the Czech Republic. I want Grason to be more than just a tool for filling shifts on short notice—it should become a strategic partner for every manager in personnel management. I’m also looking forward to working closely with Miton’s gastro tech team, with whom we share a passion for innovation and a desire to make life easier for people in gastronomy.”
“We see Grason as an important part of our long-term strategy in gastro tech,” says Tomáš Jiroušek of Miton. “Thanks to the hard work of Karel’s team—not to mention getting through the extremely challenging COVID era—we have a solid foundation to build on. We can now move Grason toward deeper integration with other technologies in our portfolio. We believe that under Anna Pánková’s leadership, Grason can become the standard for personnel management in gastronomy.”
“The sale of my share and the leadership change at Grason is a logical step that will allow the company to further grow within Miton’s gastronomy-focused strategy and its planned all-in-one solution,” says Karel Mařík. “I’m proud of what we’ve achieved with Grason, and I believe that now is the right time for Miton to build on our success and, with Anna Pánková at the helm, take the project to the next level.”
