what’s new in Miton

(Press Release) Czech technology company Livesport is expanding its philanthropic activities. The world's leading provider of fast sports news has become a new partner of the online platform Donio, through which it is easy to set up a charity fundraiser or start a project and keep 100% of the funds raised.  Donio has already raised more than 800 million CZK for charity and Livesport wants to help continue its growth in the Czech Republic and Slovakia.

David Procházka (Donio) and Tomáš Hodboď (Miton)

Donio was founded in 2019 by David Procházka together with the investment group Miton. Since then, the crowdfunding platform has helped raise money from donors for more than five thousand fundraisers and projects. These included stories of people in difficult life situations, but also for e.g. collections to support culture during the lockdown.

"During the covid pandemic, the strength of Donio was well demonstrated. We were among the contributors to several projects, but such large-scale, fast, and effective help could only come thanks to the connection of a large mass of donors," says Livesport's majority owner Martin Hájek, whose company is "replacing" Miton at Donio.

"What I like about Donio is the combination of technology and philanthropy, to which we devote a large part of our energy at Livesport. David Procházka and I have tried our hand at working together to get the Dobrobot project off the ground, and now we are taking the opportunity to expand our joint activities to include Donio. Our long-term goal is to ensure Donio's stable and sustainable operation while investing in its further development," adds Martin Hájek.

David Procházka remains at the head of the crowdfunding platform as CEO, under whose leadership Donio has already raised over CZK 800 million for charitable purposes. Almost 750 million has been raised by collections and projects in the Czech Republic, while in Slovakia the amount of money raised exceeded the threshold of 5 million EUR.

"This is a significant step for Donio. I would like to thank Miton, and specifically Tomáš Hodboď, for their trust. Their know-how has been absolutely crucial for Donio's growth. Donio is very likely to cross the milestone of one billion CZK raised to change lives this year. There is no change to the way Donio operates as part of the change of partner. We will still emphasize a pro-customer approach, always hand over 100% of the amount raised and continue to strive to change the stories that matter," comments David Procházka on the changes.

"We are glad that we could be together with David at the creation of lovebrand, which has become synonymous with supporting charity stories in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. When the opportunity arose to involve Donio in further joint activities of David and Livesport, it seemed to us the best possible continuation of this story," concludes Miton partner Tomáš Hodboď.

About the Donio platform

Donio is a platform thanks to which anyone can ask for help from the general public or, on the contrary, help someone who is in a difficult life situation. Donio was founded in October 2019 by David Procházka together with the Miton group with the aim of making helping others easier. Donio has helped change the story for thousands of people in the Czech Republic and Slovakia. Unlike all other Czech donation and crowdfunding platforms, Donio hands over 100% of the collected amount to collections and projects and operates thanks to voluntary contributions to finance its operations.

How Glami became a European player in online fashion: 5 key ingredients

It is one of those highly successful technology companies well-known among insiders but not seen that often in the media. In 10 years, Glami has become the largest search engine and online catalogue of fashion goods and accessories. It operates in 13 countries, and its customers place almost half a million orders a month. Thanks to Glami, online fashion stores will add CZK 4 billion to their sales this year. Of course, Glami, now led by CEO Ján Kešelák, didn't become a prominent and profitable international company by chance.
